1942 GMC CCKW 353 – US WWII – C1 driving licence (Switzerland)

1942 US Army GMC CCKW military truck with closed cab and split-type axles. The gross vehicle weight has been reduced to 7,500 kg so that it can be driven in Switzerland with a category C1 driving licence. Registered as a veteran vehicle.

The truck underwent a partial restoration several years ago. Numerous parts and accessories were replaced or added.

The truck is complete. It is fitted with a reproduction canvas cover made by John & Mary. The wooden bows have been completely rebuilt. Rare parts such as the rear window guard and the central rear-view mirror are present.

The vehicle has not been driven for several years and one brake is seized. The braking system needs attention, including at least the wheel cylinders and master cylinder; the Hydrovac is working. The eight rear tyres need replacing, and the mechanical components should be inspected.

The engine runs. When the truck was still regularly used, it covered hundreds of kilometres without any problems, including trips to Normandy and onto the beach, as shown in the photographs. The 12-volt battery has been replaced.

The 1-ton Ben Hur trailer is available separately.
